Please join us for a special evening with CBA guests, followed by Judge Sanford “Sandy” Brook to present vignettes from a one-act play about Clarence Darrow.

At this event, Judge Brook’s brings to life the emotion, oratory skill, and courtroom drama of an extraordinary man, Clarence Darrow, who exposed inequality and injustice by taking on society’s most controversial causes.  Darrow’s work in the courtroom impacted the social, political and cultural fabric of the early part of the 20th century. Fighting for labor reform, racial equality, the teaching of evolution in our public schools and challenging the death penalty were the hallmarks of a brilliant legal career.

The ethics and professionalism aspects of some of the greats of all arguments will be examined and explored.  An entertaining event for everyone so be sure to bring a guest to this fascinating one-act show!

About Judge Brook:  Judge Brook has performed this one-act play throughout Indiana and Colorado. Former Chief Judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals, Brook joined Judicial Arbiter Group, Inc. in 2004, after sixteen years on the bench in Indiana. He has had a lifelong interest in acting and the theater. Referring to acting as a “secret passion,” he has studied Courtroom Theater in an unusual way – as a trial lawyer, trial judge and trial advocacy instructor.

About Judge Baca:  Following law school, Baca had a varied career encompassing work as a public defender, criminal defense attorney, and legal researcher, along with a role at the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS) at the University of Denver.  In 2020 Baca was appointed to the Dolores County Court bench.  Currently, Baca has a full-time judicial appointment in the 6th Judicial District and is the 2023-2024 Colorado Bar Association President.
